This is a “W&WCC closed” event – open to Members only.

Venue: Club room Roding (overflow Manor and Warren rooms).

6 round Swiss, all moves in 20 minutes plus 10 seconds added per move (G20+10).

Rapid ratings published 1 March 2026 will be used for pairings in all 6 rounds, to be consistent, regardless of whichever rounds players participate. The ECF rating system, however, will rate games according to the date the games are played, so R1-3 games (30 March) will be rated on 1 March ratings and R4-6 games (6 April) will be rated on 1 April ratings.

Rapid Championship Vega tournament pages | on ECF LMS – will be linked when available.

Members who are not able to play on both nights may enter either 30 March for Rounds 1-3 or 6 April for Rounds 4-6. Provisional dates.

Those playing on the second night only will be awarded notional byes for the first night for the purpose of pairing only, up to a maximum of 2 points, at the discretion of the Controller. This is to avoid pairing mismatches on the second night. These players cannot win the Championship.

Normal rules of chess apply including touched-piece. Illegal move penalty an extra minute to the opponent for the first offence in a game, loss of game for the second by the same player in the same game.

Rounds at approximately 7.30, 8.35 and 9.40.

Registration on both nights will be in Roding Room from 7:25 pm. Players not present at 7:30 pm may not be paired in R1 (or R4). If your plans change or you are running late inform the Controller on 07973 773786 (forewarned is forearmed).

After your game has finished REPORT THE RESULT and maintain silence. Do not crowd boards in play. Do make use of the downstairs refreshment facilities and social areas.

All members are encouraged to participate in the ECF-rated Rapid which caters for all playing strengths (we reserve the right to split into two sections).
