Club Championship Rules

The Club Championship Rules were modified at the AGM on 24 August 2021.

The last change in the Club Championship Rules concerned the rate of play which is:

  • All moves in 80 minutes + 10 seconds increment per move – applies to all games unless one of the options below is agreed by both players before the start of play:
  • Optional – 30 moves in 1 hr 15 min followed by the addition of 15 min for the remainder of the game;
    • FIDE quickplay finish Guidelines (excluding Articles III.4 and III.5) will apply after the initial time control.
  • Optional – 36 moves in 1½ hours, followed by 24 moves per hour until the end of the game is now available on the agreement of both players in any game.

If either of the optional rates of play is to be used players will need to ask the Tournament Controller for a clock set to the rate of play chosen.

If the optional rate of 36 moves in 1½ hours, followed by 24 moves per hour is chosen, the FIDE Laws of Chess Appendix dealing with adjournment of games applies.
