Meeting the Essex League Champions head-on, the Wanstead first team came away from their opening fixture at Barking with both points, winning 4½-3½. A great result for debut skipper, Ashley Freeman, who contributed to the blitz of the top order by winning his own game. Bees sting Writtle!

Following recent exploits by the Club’s second string, or ‘B’ team, in winning the Essex Team Blitz and the Essex Knockout, Wanstead 2 last night pulled off a shock result in beating Writtle Away by 4½-3½. Writtle, while not at full strength, held a grading advantage of an average 16 points a board, but the “Bees” stung them three times, including a win by Bee-Keeper Pete (aka Captain Charisma) against only two swats. The three winning games are now given below […]
