True, Basildon are figthing against relegation, but they have two games in hand which, if they were to win both, would take them to 8 points, one above WW2’s current score of 7. There was little between the teams on paper, WW2 1893, Basildon 1926, which equates to about 4 grading points on the old ECF grading system; i.e. nothing at all. Minor League champs!

From Mark Murrell Nigel White’s Essex Minor League (U1650) team win the the League in style with a 4-0 whitewash to their nearest title contenders Southend B, depite being outrated away and with a match in hand. Older members will remember “TW3”; David Frost et al. This is the WWCC take on a busy week with Round 6 of the Club Championship on Tuesday and four away matches over Wednesday and Thursday; “four teams, at Gt Baddow, Basildon, Barking and Chingford which severely stretched our resources. Essex League Division I: Wanstead II 4½-3½ Writtle. At Wanstead. Lightning strikes twice. The last time Wanstead II were in Division I was the covid-19 truncated 2019-20 season.
