Announcing the Handicap Grand Prix for 2021-22 New members are in for another culture shock: the Handicap Blitz Grand Prix (“HBGP”). This is a five-event series, the points scored in each event aggregating for a season Grand Prix. Culture shock? you’ve heard of chess-boxing, well this is chess-arithmetic. Success amongst the Mayhem’s mayhem

Played on Thursday 21 January there was unexpected success for the club’s first foray into the League of Mayhem’s invitational Team Battle blitz Arenas. ‘A Team’ bounces back

Another day, another competition. In the Semi-Final of the Lawrance Cup, Wanstead defeated the mighty Barnet Elizabethans by 5-3 over the two rounds. Artur inflicted a double defeat on Tryfon Gavriel, 210, Kyan secured a draw and a win against Roy Sagall, 196, Alin contributed a win and a draw against Philip Myers, all of which allowed David to have an off day. Bees sting the A Team

For the Final of the Essex Knockout, an all-Wanstead affair, Paul Barclay encountered difficulties assembling his team, with the top four of his registered players unavailable. Having arranged the date particularly for John Hodgson, it was particularly unfortunate that John went down with flu. Aix-en-Provence

In September a Club team of nine players is travelling again to Aix-en-Provence to compete with our friends there on the evening of Friday 20th September in a blitz tournament and then on the afternoon of Saturday 21st in a rapid tournament.
