4NCL Online Round 3

On the whole a satisfactory round for Redbridge All Sorts teams: a clean sweep, a near-clean-sweep, a salvaged draw and just one casualty. RA1 2-2 v Braunstone 1 required a large slice of good fortune to come from behind to draw. RA2 and RA3 both had heavy wins, RA2 3½-½ v War and Peace 2, while RA3 recorded a clean sweep 4-0 against Maidenhead 3. Meanwhile, RA4 are finding the new Division 7 tough going, losing 3-1 to the claws […]

4NCL Online Season 3 R2

The four Redbridge All Sorts teams were in action in 4NCL Online Season 3 Round 2 on 9 February. A curiosity – though quite probable in the Swiss pairing Division 7 – was that teams 3 and 4 each played the other’s Round 1 opponents and each improved on the other’s R1 score by 1 point. While this still meant a loss for RA3 by 2½-1½ against Throw in the Tal, RA4 claimed the only highlight of the evening, a […]

4NCL Online Season 3

Having finished just outside the promotion spots in Division 6 in Season 2, the Redbridge All Sorts 1 team did not expect promotion in 4NCL Online Season 3. 3-1 double

The two Redbridge All Sorts teams were in action this evening in Round 5 of the 4NCL Online, with both teams winning 3-1. The two sets of results had quite a lot in common, with two tragedies of different sorts, both occuring on Board 2. The first team example was a loss from a winning position in a time-scramble, the other an apparent mouse-slip dropping the queen on a defended square in repeating moves for a draw. Otherwise some good […]
