Lightning Championship 2022-23 The 37th running of our Lightning Championship, played annually since 1986-87 without a break, even for covid. John Cawdery Lightning Champion

Club Champion 2020-21, John Cawdery has now added the 2021-22 Lightning Championship, wresting the crown from Terry Whitton who was held to a draw in the last round by David Smith; John would have won on tie-break in any event had Terry won. There were 20 entries and some keen competition. Septuagenarian Lightning Champion

Terry Whitton was in imperious form to win the Lightning Championship with a 100% score 6/6. There was a fine performance also from Emmet Clarke clear second on 5/6, though not having played Terry, probably due to his second round loss, so that he came up on the rails in the finishing straight.
