…and beats dad John in the process!
Yes, John gave six minutes on the clock, but Mary gave 409 rating points. Mary also had the scalps of David Spearman and Terry Whitton to her name, winning with 6½/7, the half a point conceded to Alex Collyer, in becoming the first female member to win any of the Club’s tournaments in the 83 year history of the Club.
In Mary’s wake, apart from dad John 5½/7, came Alex and James Walsh, each with 5/7. 31 members entered.
This was the first in the five event Handicap Blitz Grand Prix, the other four events are all ‘first Tuesday’ features, being on 1 December, 2 February, 2 March and 4 May. Members may enter any or all of these events as they please. Points scored are aggregated to decide the winner of the Grand Prix. More details on the HBGP page.
