Ashley – whoosh-bang champion!

Lightning Championship 2022-23 The 37th running of our Lightning Championship, played annually since 1986-87 without a break, even for covid. The history of lightning tournaments at W&WCC goes back even further, before it was run as a championship. The latest incarnation produced a new champion from the ranks of our recent recruits: Ashley Freeman set a pace that none could live with and he won with a round to spare, finishing with 5½/6. Class will out: Ashley Freeman won on 6½. His only ½ point dropped was to […]

Several new names were included in the list, one of whom, Ryan Colclough, spectactularly headed the table on 5/6, along with resident speedster, Terry Whitton. David Smith was next on 4½, followed by Tu Sennan, Paul Barclay and Michael Wilson on the third step of the podium, each with 4 points. Terry Whitton now leads the Grand Prix with […]

Club Blitz Championship 2021-22 – 4 January

The Entry Form is now open for the Club Blitz Championship 2021-22, to be held 4 January 2022, covid restrictions permitting. The possibility of HMG restrictions being introduced in the wake of Omicron appears to be receding with the breaking news announcement of no new restrictions in England before the New Year; allowing for notice being given for new restrictions, this would appear to be good news for 4 January. Nonetheless, we have a fallback position of running an online […]
