Rule of 6 OTB Tournaments – 15 September 2020

These tournaments break new ground:

  1. our first competitive events since resuming Club meetings in the Covid-19 secure way;
  2. will be our first competitive events to be submitted for ECF rating on its new Elo system (notwithstanding one individual rated game (Nickals-Jestico on “Opening Night”);
  3. activity embracing provisions of HM Government’s new laws about groups of six.

Contestant details and links to the Tournament Pages are listed below. These will enable Club Members who are not attending to follow events as they unfold during the evening. Games will be 10 mins + 5 seconds per move (G10+5), which equates to 30 mins per game for 60 moves, so a new round approx every 30-35 minutes.

The reason there are two sources for the tournaments pairings and results is that i) the ECF LMS system will automatically report the results for ECF rating; ii) the Vega-generated tournament pages give easier navigation and presentation, plus we need the practice for using Vega with the new website, since the uploading requirements are slightly different and on our first use with the new site there was a delay of several minutes before data refreshed on the web page; we believe this has been fixed, but need a practical test.

Results are updated as soon as practicable after the result is reported to the Controller, so remember to periodically refresh your browser to ensure you are seeing the latest data.
